Growing older every single day, we realize being kids was the greatest blessings of all. Life is unpredictable and comes with its own terms! Life comes with Good and bad, every day is a new experience. But at the end of the day, what matters is how did we face it and what have we learnt from it. Let go of the things that are beyond your control and focus on how to be happy for yourself.

HOW TO CULTIVATE SELF LOVE?
1. DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS
“You never know what others are going through and what race they are running for.”
The ” Comparision trap” is the killer of self-love and self- esteem and unfortunately, it’s very easy to fall into these days with how prevalent social media is. With the easy access to other’s lives, we tend to show more interest in what is going on in their life. however, the people on social media tend to show only the highlights of their life and not their struggles. It is good to admire their happy life. Also, understand that there is no point in comparing our life with them looking at the rosy filtered photos and pricey-cosy homes!
Learn to be grateful for what you have and don’t let those fairy tales steal away your peace of mind. Focus on your present own life, as opposed to being so focused on everyone else. Create your own beauty in your own life, and know that YOU are beautiful too!
Tip: Leave social media and see the actually existing world outside.! If that is not possible then unfollow those account that makes you low/negative of yourself. Those accounts with which you constantly compare yourself with. Follow those pages which are inspiring and brings positivity to your life.
2. KNOW YOU ARE WORTH LOVING
You are made with love by your Mom and your parents had done a lot of sacrifices to raise you as a child. You are born on this Earth to do amazing things and never wait or rely on anyone to walk up to you to say, You’re worth loving. Unique and best the way you are. People who truly love you will never point at your flaws. Keep working for yourself and make your inner peace say to you that You’re worth Loving!
3. HAVE FUN
When was the last time you had genuine fun? The Last time you allowed yourself to do something just for fun?. As kids, all we knew was to be happy, live a carefree life. As we grow old, with more responsibilities shouldered upon. We are lest interested in self- love and self-care. Take some time for yourself and have fun. Recollect what used to make you happy. Dance, sports, video games or just hanging out with friends etc. Just do it! It’s never a waste of time to make yourself happy!
4. SET HEALTHY BOUNDARIES
Learn the art of saying,’NO’. Set boundaries to cultivate positivity and self-love in your life. Keeping away from work, relations and people who drain you, bring stress and harm to your life is self-love. The ability to set these boundaries gives you a lot of peace because you are cutting out the things that impact your life. Sometimes, it is okay to say No and just take a break from certain commitments or people, and taking such break gives you time to evaluate whether or not you want to invite these people/things back into your life later.
5. FORGIVE YOURSELF
I have seen quite a few people who hurt themselves during failure. And later regret doing it. Hurting self-causes more damage to yourself and you will not gain anything out of it. Shift your mindset from “Punishing yourself” to “Learning and growing from your past mistakes”.
Your mistakes give you the learning opportunity for growth and change. With every failure we face in life, we improve and change, which is a positive sign! It is easy to lecture to let go of the past. But, holding it back also doesn’t serve the purpose. Let me give you an activity idea,”Write & burn”.
Yes, get a paper and start writing the things which are hurting you emotionally and what is running on your mind. Then, burn all of the paper(safely of course!). This activity symbolizes; letting go of the past, and forgiving yourself. Trust me! you will feel relieved from the things that held you back! Practice self-love and compassion by letting go of these toxic thoughts, and forgiving yourself <3.
6. TREAT YOURSELF, HOW YOU’D LIKE TO BE TREATED BY OTHERS
Flip the famous saying,“treat others how you’d like to be treated.” If you want others to treat you with respect, compassion, then don’t you deserve the same for yourself? I know, it might sound awkward. But, if you look down on yourself and bully yourself for your weakness. Then, it is obvious it reflects the same to others and they take a chance!
Stop it right now!!
You are just perfect the way you are! Everybody has their traits and it’s just that they don’t show it to the world. Then why do you have to? Treat yourself with love and don’t let yourself down. keep striving even if things don’t go well. Because there is light at the end of the tunnel :).
7. UMMM, SELF CARE, DUH!
This list wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t mention about self-care. Like I said in the beginning, self-love and self-care go hand in hand. When you love someone, whether it is your child, spouse, family or friends you want to take care of them right? so, why not take care of yourself?
Self-care basically means, eating good food, exercising regularly, keeping away from negativity and giving a quality time for yourself. Thank yourself for all that you nourish every day. Self-care is the act of showing yourself love, which is the key to living a positive life.
Well, All these cannot be achieved overnight. Consider these points and sow the seed of “Self-love” in your mind. That will eventually flourish. And Hey!! If the list can bring a little change in your life,then Come back to me here and share your story of happy life
